3 CD's! You don't see that everyday.

Conclusion
There were a few unfortunate difficulties I experienced with the beta CD's I received that kept me from getting to the gut of GK3. The most prominent of the beta's 'missing features' was the inability to load/save your game. Since there was no way in hell I could play through a 3 CD game in one sitting, that already limited my exposure to the further parts of the game. But on top of that, there was this annoying little bug that would crash the game about an hour after starting to play. And of course, there were a few visual anomalies here and there, but those are to be expected. Luckily, Sierra plans to fix all of these by the time the game ships. So although the extent at which I got to play was only around 2 hours, I still got a great feeling for how the game plays.

I guess the question on everyone's mind is when is this great game going to be released. I haven't been told a release date as of now, but its safe to assume that it should be by the end of this year. The game seemed mostly complete, except for the bugs that need attention. The FMV on the 3 CD's is expected to be redone, however. The current ones are basically recording's of spruced up in-game sequences. I don't think any real actors have been planned, and using the same character models from the game into movies keeps the game flowing, instead of a big jump in quality.

Since GK3 is an adventure game, don't expect any kind of multiplayer. But GK3 is so much more than just going around and clicking on objects on the screen (don't get me wrong, that's an integral part of an adventure game). The ability to look at every nook and cranny in the 3d world allows for a lot more interactivity on the designer's part. And having full 3d models for the characters allows for more fluid and realistic motion, and they just feel like they belong in the environment. And being a mystery game, you can't help but feel a little anxious to find out what happens next. There are many sub-plots in the game, and so much to reveal, everything becomes a riddle. You set out to find a lost boy, and you can't believe what trouble you'll get into along the way. And what treasures there are to discover. Remember… suspect everyone!
