The story of a space detective who no longer wishes to spy on adulterers…

The dream job of any pervert has to be becoming a private investigator. As long as you use careful discretion in choosing cases (avoid anything that will draw media attention or bring you fame and money) and stick to spying on spouses who are supposedly cheating on their partner, how could it not be fun? You're getting paid to walk around with spy equipment and watch hot chicks make out. You can even invite your friends over to watch sometime, and start an Internet show. I guess for the pure of heart though, there's supposed to be more to spying than just that… and that's the case with Sly Boots of Anachronox. He's down on his luck and ready to take just about any job imaginable as long as it has nothing to do with spying on adulterers. Ok, so he probably wouldn't want to dress up in a sailor outfit and sing songs at nightclubs either, but you get my point.

Sly is an interesting guy. I really had him pinned down as the kind of guy that would wander around speaking in cliché spy terms like, "The ducks fly at midnight," but Tom Hall of ION Storm tells us otherwise: "He sort of has his own lingo, but it's more like he thinks he's really hip...but he's not. :)" Somehow though, this just wasn't enough insight into Sly's character for our taste. We wanted to really dig into the very core of his being and find out just what makes him tick. To do that, we asked whether or not he was a boxers or briefs kind of man. The answer shocked all of us at 3DGN, as we were informed he may very well be "freedoggin'" it. I think that answer speaks for itself. Remember folks, you can learn a lot from someone's choice in undergarments.
The actual story of Anachronox will be filled with depth, so it's time to move away from the subject of underwear (or the lack thereof) and get on to the good stuff. Sly ends up teaming up with a woman known for getting her way, and she's named, "Stiletto Anyway." Additionally, five other people will join them throughout the game. Their journey will take them on a search for a long dead race of aliens, all in hopes of discovering the mystery behind advanced technology. The technology is known as MysTech, and part of your quest is to unveil the mystery behind it. As if that weren't enough, there's a whole conspiracy plot to destroy the entire world too. Oh come on, you knew that part was coming.
