Monkeys are just so dang cute.
|
Most monkeys are anyway, and that's why I've always liked them. Alright, maybe not, but I'm not sharing my real reasons. But there is a group of abhorrently evil monkeys that are entering the gaming market now, and it's our job to slay them. They have already forced the minds behind Blade to add them into the game under the disguise of being a race of "orcs," but everyone knows this is false. To show your disgust for these vile freaks of nature, purchase Blade when it is released, arm your sword, and attack a group of them. Make them bleed and die painfully, but let one live with only the loss of his favorite arm to go tell his master of our unwillingness to put up with these evil creatures. We will fight back!
Anyway, coming back to reality for a minute, Blade really should be a great game. It isn't getting all of the attention it deserves, but it has a strong publisher to back it up once it nears release. Infogames is Blade's publisher. Wait… wait… Infogames is a title that would actually make sense, it must be "Infogrames," which is very hard to pronounce. At any rate, the fine folks of Rebel Act have been working on Blade for a very long time now, about three years, and you can tell Infogrames has been the publisher for a while, because Rebel Act said they don't have trouble pronouncing it. The game is finally reaching the stage where it's time to get hyped and get attention now… so please, for Rebel Act's sake and not ours (ok, ours too), please tell every person you have ever met or spoken with in your life to come read this preview and the interview with Rebel Act below. Heck, don't even limit yourself to people you've met at some point in your life, run through the streets shouting out the URL and go door to door spreading the word. Blade will be known, and we'll get rich off of all the hits. Um… forget that latter part.
There isn't much more for a conclusion that I can think of right now, but the full text of the interview between Xavier Carrillo Costa and me, Eric Something or other is below (and continues on next page... it's a long interview):
Questions:
There is definitely a lot of interesting backing story, will the way the game is played affect the story in any way? How does it progress throughout the game?
The story is one of the secrets from the game. You'll learn about it through the levels and discover the epic world of Blade.
How customizable will characters be once the player chooses a race? For example, can we dress up dwarves in dresses and give string bikinis to the amazons?
In fact not very much.
Just to give us an example of how battles will occur, could you walk us through a sample enemy counter and the fight that follows?
We have worked very hard on the combat system and on the AI from the enemies.
Each enemy have a special way to fight. Some are more intelligent and fight in an organized way, they circle you and they relay between them to win you.
Some other are more stupid and aggressive like your friends the evil monkeys. They attack you in a more disorganized way. And if an orc hit in combat another orc they will start to fight between themselves forgetting you.
How many enemies will there be an all? Care to name a few of your favorites?
There will be more than 25 different races of enemies.
My favorite enemy is a secret one but we have also other nice ones like skeletons, trolls, orcs and spiders.....
We like monkeys. A lot. Do you believe any monkey can be born evil?
You probably thought the monkey question was pointless, but it really wasn't. If you said yes, can we fight evil monkeys in Blade? If you said no, can we fight evil monkeys in Blade? Ok, my earlier question was pointless.
I don't know if monkeys can be born evil ....
In fact we have several races of orcs and they really seem like evil monkeys. So the answer is that you will definitely fight evil monkeys
in Blade
How exactly does the health system work? Do players acquire bandages for healing or can they collect potions, etc.?
You will have different ways to increase your life and defense. You will be able to eat food (bread, cheese...) and also pick-up several types of life potions and power potions.
The weapons are pretty intimidating; can you run off a few of the really cool ones and their uses for us?
The weapons are one of the most secrets things we have: I can just tell
you that each Playing Character will have a complete set of weapons (normal, special and magic...) and I promise you they are great..!!!
