Oh Gas Powered Games, how we love thee…
|
As if everything else we've mentioned wasn't enough, the Siege Engine will allow you to make your own levels for Dungeon Siege, or completely edit everything and turn the game into a futuristic laser tag game. The possibilities are nearly endless, so all of you with any inkling of talent in that area can make the game into what you want once you've exhausted the single player game (by exhausted, we mean beat it at least twice…).
There will also be a multiplayer mode in the game, which has one downfall… you need to play it on Microsoft's Gaming Zone, a service I've never had too much luck with. Fortunately, it isn't the worst service out there, and it's likely improved much since I tried playing Jedi Knight battles over it a long time ago. That is just for Internet play, of course, and you can also play the game over a LAN. The main mode of play will be the campaign, where you can join up with up to nine other warriors. If that's not quite to your liking, you can play "Capture The Castle," a rousing game where thieves attempt to hotwire castles and drive them off before the castles' owners are the wiser. Or maybe the title is self-explanatory and I'm just trying to be funny. I'll leave that for you to decide.
No one ever said, "a game by any other developer would be as sweet," because that would just be stupid. Not every developer has the necessary elements to make a hit game, but Gas Powered Games is one of those companies that does. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say Dungeon Siege is the game I'm most looking forward to out of everything I saw at E3. If 3DGN had E3 awards, I would have h4x0r4d the page to make sure it had Dungeon Siege as the "Best of Show." Unfortunately, we don't have E3 awards because we're really a bunch of lazy-err… I was just told I need to change that sentence. Ok. Unfortunately, we don't have E3 awards because 3DGN goes against the norm! We're a group of wild and crazy rebels! Forgetting about us for a second (c'mon, you know you're dying to), Dungeon Siege is a game worth looking out for, and there will be a void in my life that only it can fill… and that's why I'm building a shrine to Chris Taylor, in hopes he'll send me a playable copy of the game very soon.
