Tons of new weapons, items, and armor will be scouring the levels and towns of Diablo 2... all for the taking. That is of course if you can beat the nasties wearing them.

Along with a whole slew of new characters and skills, Blizzard did not forget about items either. In Diablo 2, items will work pretty much like they did in the original. When asked about what types of weapons each character can carry, Bill Roper replied "Some will be class-specific, while others will have strength or dexterity requirements. There will also be weapons that any class can use, but specific classes will gain greater benefit from. It is still too early for us to get into specifics on these items, but there are going to be many, many, many!" The items in Diablo 2 will range from the standard blades and staffs, but will now include throwing weapons such as a Spear. And, as well as having the standard weapons, Diablo 2 will also host a variety of rare items as well. However, don't expect to find these very often, since it's said that they will only be generated 1 in 83,300 games!

In addition to new weapons and items, Blizzard is also tweaking the armor system as well. "...There will undoubtedly be 'Killer [Armor]' for each class, but they will be different for each class as well. Also, we intend for the economy of the game to be much more of a game play element than it was in Diablo, so finding that weapon or armor to beat all others for your character is going to mean a whole lot more." Explains Bill Roper.

As well as implementing new armor, skills, and items, not even the Spells department will remain unscathed. Of course, one would expect Blizzard to add more spells and change them around a bit, but Blizzard isn't stopping there. A few of the new spells range from Zealotry, which lowers speed but increases strength and adds hit points, to Whirlwind, which will create a strong fast wind that strikes all the squares surrounding the character. The way in which you upgrade spells will be a bit different as well. For instance, in the original there were two spells - Fireball and Firebolt. To get to fireball, you must obtain the proper magic skill and the proper book. However, if you were to have those two spells in Diablo 2, constant use of the Firebolt would upgrade you to higher levels and eventually achieve the deadlier Fireball ability. Spells will also play a more integral role with the game play, such as spells that enchant weapons. A few spells as well are also class-exclusive, which means the Necromancer wont have all the spells the Sorceress has, and vice versa. All in all, the extensive list of new items, skills, and spells won't disappoint.
