So you're tough enough to slay radscorpions and silver geckos... then match wits with Aunt Morliss for a true challenge of your mettle, and see if you survive.

A better weapon is in order, so after some exploration, a tough man with a very sharp spear is seen guarding the southern bridge and after a brief inquiry the man says he will hone your spear to perfection if he only had some flint. And the only place to get it is from the curmudgeonly old woman, Aunt Morliss, and she demands to be paid with 3 bags of white healing powder. Scarface didn't even do that much! She hands over the flint and after a short discussion the spear is sharpened to a deadly point. Now, with some skill, you'll be able to defeat whatever lies ahead in the hunting grounds. But before leaving our hero takes a walk to the other end of the village to find a young boy whose dog Smoke has run off into the hunting grounds. It's on the way, so our hero will look for the lost dog because the way is too dangerous for children. Through the village, past the village tents, and beyond the road, the hunting grounds are found.

New enemies await in the field. Geckos! These aren't little pets either, they're nasty flesh eaters and suddenly the newly sharpened spear is a Godsend. After laying waste to the foes, your character spots the orange flower needed for the healing powder recipe. But the root is a bit more tricky to find. With a bit of luck a few roots are found, and with a bit of exploration, Smoke the dog is recovered and ready to be led to his master. Time to return to the village with the dog and the healing powder ingredients. Clues point eastward to a large town, and apparently a merchant has some clues about the GECK and old Vault 13. Other missions and subplots are available to you and will send you scouring the wastes to find them. But it's time to leave home and go exploring.

Exploring the Town of Klamath:
After some exploration, the town of Klamath is uncovered. It's strange here, and upon your arrival, you see an abandoned gun store that warrants some exploring. You find no guns, but instead uncover a pair of slick rubber boots. Explore the entire town, and you'll find some caps and a pistol. It will come in very handy later; you're in a strange land, so keep it by your side. You'll find a character named Whiskey Bob on your explorations and her will ask you to refuel his still with wood for some fast cash. South of town lies a path that leads to Whiskey Bobs still shed. You'll have to fight some tough Geckos to get by, but once you get in, you can toss the wood in the still and get back to the town and reclaim the money that Whiskey Bob owes you for your hard and tireless work.
